Safegaurding – Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection

At the Cults Library Trust, we believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children, young people, and vulnerable adults across all our activities, events, and programmes.

Safeguarding is not just a policy – it is part of our culture and our values as a community organisation.

Our Commitment

We recognise the vital importance of protecting those who may be at risk of harm or neglect.
Our trustees, staff, and volunteers all share a duty of care to ensure that:

  • Everyone who engages with the Trust feels safe, respected, and supported.
  • Concerns are identified and reported promptly and appropriately.
  • Policies and procedures are followed consistently and in line with current legislation.

We work to promote wellbeing, prevent harm, and respond effectively if concerns arise.

Staying Current and Compliant

The Trust ensures that all safeguarding practices are regularly reviewed and kept up to date with:

  • Scottish and UK safeguarding legislation
  • National guidance from bodies such as Volunteer Scotland and the Scottish Government
  • Local authority procedures and expectations

Trustees and volunteers are made aware of their responsibilities and receive guidance and training appropriate to their role.
We review and update our safeguarding policies annually or whenever new statutory guidance is introduced.

Our Policies

To ensure transparency and accountability, our safeguarding framework includes two key policies:
